Highlights & Guide to the 2010 BBC Summer Proms

It is almost that time of the year again where one of the world’s greatest classical music festivals descend upon London. The BBC Proms return to the Royal Albert Hall from July to September, with several big names such as Placido Domingo, Jamie Cullum, and Matt Smith performing. Parliamentary Waffle House – Show Your Allegiance The Fun Way

With the excitement of the election looming and the UK’s first series of televised debates, a new weird and wonderful politics themed eatery has opened up on Central London. From the “jellymongers” Sam Bompas and Harry Parr, curators of bespoke jelly moulds, this series of nights kicked off with an opening by former mayor Ken Livingston and is set to give customers a taste of politics with a twist.

Review: Bubbles & Brunch at the Cookbook Cafe

This weekend brunch buffet is a step above the rest in London, offering fantastic food and unlimited bellinis at a pretty reasonable price. The weird thing? Its a hotel restaurant, which are generally not well known for exciting food or atmosphere, but the Cookbook Cafe delivers well on the first point and was fully packed when were we there for a Saturday brunch.

Greenwich: History, architecture and some very old beer…

There’s more to Greenwich than the still closed Cutty Sark, The O2 dome and some strange line that we tell time by. The new Discover Greenwich campaign encourages us to explore the history of the area and has enlisted the help of a very modern exhibition and some beer dating back to the 1750s. Oh, and it’s free, too!

Review: Swiss Cheese Fondue Night

Swiss Cheese Fondue in London? Will it have cheddar? I asked myself that question when I first heard about a Swiss Cheese Fondue Night at the Swissotel The Howard in London, but thankfully they stick true to the authentic recipe, using 3 different Swiss cheeses for their melting pot of delicious fondue. Held in a mock Swiss-style chalet in their garden, you can’t get more Swiss than this anywhere else in London.

Preview: The JD Set Gig at Dingwalls

The latest edition of Jack Daniel’s series of concerts, the JD set, is set to take place in London on the 5th of May, and will once again see a host of modern artists re-interpret a classic album in its entirety.
