Oktoberfest is almost upon us, and while we’re not deep in Bavarian lands in Germany, there are still big celebrations in London to mark this festival.

The traditional Oktoberfest, held in Munich in the state of Bavaria in Germany, usually lasts for 16 days from the end of September till the middle of October. However, you can celebrate Oktoberfest for a full eight week instead of just 16 days at the Bavarian Beerhouse, which is bidding to host the longest Oktoberfest festival in the world.

The Bavarian Beerhouse in London have been running Oktoberfest fun and frolics for the last seven years, and this year will see Oktoberfest not just held in one location, but also in their second beerhouse, new opened in Tower Hill. In fact, the Oktoberfest celebrations every year at the Bavarian Beerhouse has been getting such a positive response that even the German Embassy in London has endorsed it as the only venue in London it has recommended for Oktoberfest!

German beers will be served in huge Stein glasses by waitresses dressed in Dirndl, and of course guys are welcome to wear Lederhosen! There will also be lots of German food to go with the beers, with the highlight being massive pork shanks.

Oktoberfest will be running at both branches of the Bavarian Beerhouse from 16th September till 6th November.

This being London, I can imagine it would probably be cheaper to jump on a flight and enjoy the real deal in Munich!
