Vote for London-based DEM LOT for Barclays Live Best UK Dance Act Winner
Published 3 January 2011
Back on the 31st July 2010, Barclays held a live competition in Leicester Square to find the best dance group in London. Coupled with similar competitions throughout the country, they now have a shortlist of the 5 best dance troupes in the UK, hailing from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, and Reading.
The top prize for the best dance group will be a £1000 cash prize as well as fame and fortune, acting like a springboard to stardom and professional dancing, just like Britain’s Got Talent has done for many of its top dance groups throughout the years. This year, London’s own home-grown DEM LOT has made it into the top five groups of the Barclays Live Dance Competition.
Nicola Steward, choreographer for DEM LOT, said this after their London win: “I can’t believe we’ve won! To have beat off such stiff competition and well-known acts is incredible and I’m really proud of the kids. They will take huge confidence from this”.
The competition was rolled out at various regions across the UK over the past year with celebrity judges including Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole and Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara.

And if you like what you see, do consider voting for local London group DEM LOT; they’re currently leading the pack of finalists in terms of votes (with Steadiflux from Birmingham not far behind) and Anuradha (Reading), Precise Crew (Manchester), and The Freestylers (Bristol) all still in it with a chance to win. Voting for the Barclays Live Best Dance Act of 2010 closes on the 5th January.
