London’s 4th Ice Sculpting Festival @ Canary Wharf
Published 13 January 2012
After a unseasonably warm December and a so far pretty decent January, any dreams of a snowy or icy winter in London is quickly fading away. However, for two days, the magic of ice sculptures will be at Canary Wharf, at the 4th annual Ice Sculpting Festival in London.
8 teams of sculptors from around the world will be competing to create the most stunning and elegant ice sculptures possible, held across Montgomery Square, Canada Square and Jubilee Place Shopping Mall in Canary Wharf. Apart from the ice sculptures, there will also be a snow pit in Montgomery Square where everyone can enjoy making snowmen or snowcastles, in REAL snow.
For those with itchy hands, there will be ice sculpting masterclasses, taking place on the hour, 20 minutes, and 40 minutes past. There’s no way to reserve a space on an ice sculpting masterclass – you’ll just have to turn up on the day to grab a spot.
So whether you’re a Canary Wharf banker twiddling your thumbs on a Friday afternoon or just out for a unique winter experience, the London Ice Sculpting Festival is certainly one of the most interesting events in what is usually a quiet month!
