Preview: London Fashion Week – Autumn/Winter 2012
Published 14 February 2012
Well it is that time of the year again, when the mercury hits zero degrees and the international fashion community get ready to descend on London for a few special days to start planning what will be in and what will be out for next winter. Buyers, models, designers and journalists will be running from exhibitions to shows situated around central London.
As is becoming tradition for the British Fashion Council Somerset House will be home to the on–schedule exhibitions. The exhibitions are the place to get up close and personal to the clothes that are seen on the catwalk. It’s the chance to touch and feel the clothes and if you are lucky chat with the designers. The home of this season’s London Fashion Week off schedule exhibitions and shows will be Freemason’s Hall, where you will find Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s exhibitions.
Autumn/winter 2012 will launch a refocused Exhibition, with a carefully curated selection of 120 brands, showcasing the best of London’s talent. New this season is Rock Vault – a jewellery initiative, curated by Stephen Webster and sponsored by the International Palladium Board. Areas will highlight key BFC initiatives from the emerging talents of BFC/ELLE Talent Launch Pad and NEWGEN sponsored by Topshop, to the milliners in Headonism sponsored by Royal Ascot and Estethica sponsored by Monsoon, championing sustainable fashion for a sixth year.
February’s fashion week is always exciting as it is the first fashion week of the year, however this season promises to be one to remember because McQ, Alexander McQueen’s diffusion line, will be showing in London for the first time, along with Italian label Moschino who will be presenting their Cheap and Chic line.
London Fashion Week takes place February 17th – Febraury 22nd 2012, with womenswear exhibitions for the first 5 days and menswear exhibitions on the last day.
